THE PEYTON SOCIETY OF VIRGINA ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Our annual membership meeting will be held May 16, Saturday morning at 10 am at the Aquia Episcopal Church, 2938 Richmond Hwy, Stafford, VA., at the Christian Formation and Fellowship Building. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend. A brief list of the weekend activities follows. Please download to view the April 2026 Newsletter for further information.
DINNERS
Friday night, May 15, DINNER will be casual, at El Gran Charro, a Mexican restaurant, at 2834 Richmond Hwy. It is a popular restaurant, and parking is scarce, so please try to carpool. In the past, we have gone at 6 p.m., but it may be helpful for some to go a bit earlier to try to get a big table. We will all have traveled so we’ll all need to relax and enjoy some social time together.
Saturday night DINNER will be at 6 pm, at Zibibbo 73, an Italian restaurant, at 2757 Richmond Hwy. Fortunately, we will be able to order from the whole menu (rather than from a limited list usually offered to larger groups such as ours). Deadline for giving the restaurant our numbers for dinner is May 8 – PLEASE LET ANNETTE KNOW IF YOU WILL COME TO DINNER BY MAY 7.
SATURDAY LUNCH
You’re on your own for Saturday’s lunch.
SUNDAY LUNCH
Sunday’s lunch is the ECW luncheon at Aquia Episcopal Church, on Sunday, following the 10:30 service and after prayers at the grave-side of John Peyton.
There is no charge for the luncheon but there will be baskets for donations. The donated funds are used for the church’s outreach missions. PLEASE LET ANNETTE KNOW IF YOU WILL COME TO THE LUNCHEON BY MAY 7. We need to let the ECW know how many of us to expect.
SUNDAY SERVICE
Aquia Episcopal Church, has services at 7:30 am, and 10:30 am. Those of us who attend usually go to the 10:30 service. Following the service, we’ll walk out to John Peyton’s grave for prayers. If it’s been a while since you were there, you’ll notice the beautiful headstone we placed there two years ago.

The Mount Vernon Trail winds alongside the Potomac River offering uninterrupted views of Washington, D.C.'s skyline. A run, walk, or cycle along the trail leads to all of the same sites that can be reached by car on the parallel section of the parkway.
Fort Hunt Park
https://www.nps.gov/gwmp/planyourvisit/forthunt.htm
Originally part of George Washington's Mount Vernon estate, the land that is Fort Hunt Park has undergone several transformations. Batteries at Fort Hunt defended the Potomac River during the Spanish American War; the Civilian Conservation Corps operated a camp there during the Great Depression; and soldiers at Fort Hunt interrogated prisoners, trained pilots in escape and evasion, and combed German documents for intelligence during World War II. Today it is a favorite spot for picnicking.
This area has many historic sites. There is plenty to do.
We are just south of Washington, DC if you want to go a little further. We have a METRO transit system that will take you to the National Mall.
The Smithsonian is located on the mall and is free.
